As I always say, this blog has given me the possibility, in the last months, to get in touch with so many people and to discover many stories to tell.
One of these is surely that of Christian Carlino, aka “De Lord”, the Modenese pianist who is conquering Europe and Asia.
“Pianist, writer and creative”, Christian is really a mix of many qualities. He plays, writes verses and works on the web.
On his website you can find his bio and an introduction about him that I loved much, “the atmospheres evoked by Delord reveal themselves through a big expressive freedom and a compositive open style, where the piano meets the lights of lamps, created by the artist, in a show of colours and chromotherapy. Soft and dreamy melodies cross the dance of the notes of this young writer of Dreams.”
Christian’s desire to do things won me over immediately.
His projects, its willingness to go beyond the music has intrigued me and so here I am to tell you his story.
“When has your passion for piano born?”
It was the first thing that came to my mind to ask him. Christian told me a very significant episode: when he was a child he took part in a casting for an advertising during which the interviewer asked him to choose a toy among many: he chose a keyboard 🙂
Growing up, then, he became a member of a band specializing in covers of Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin. It is from John Lord, the keyboardist founder of Deep Purple that comes his name “The Lord,” Italianized “De Lord.”
Christian is an atypical pianist, self-taught for some things. He began as a keyboardist and then become a pianist, studying with various teachers.
His path was contrariwise compared to the more traditional ones: he started from jazz and blues and now is deepening classical music.
One of the things that struck me most of all those who told me has been his habit of composing music: he doesn’t usually write about on the pentagram but prefers to record his intuitions that can occur at any time of the day!
“Through the music I can tell my experiences” (De Lord)
The musical project of De Lord starts in 2007. In 2009 he released his first album “Sognare Part. I “, together with his book of verses with the same title. Between 2009 and 2010, Christian get to organize until 50 concerts around Europe. In 2012 he directed his first music video “Lola corre”, entirely self-produced.
In October 2015, in collaboration with the manager Mattia Rissone, another important idea is born: “Gate”, a series of music videos with the oriental sounds which aim to realize a type of format that it’s not present in Italy yet: “the music series”. In particular, the goal is to open a door between East and West, especially between Italy and Japan. Breaking the rules, Christian wants to give back to music its main purpose: reflecting and exciting.
From a certain point of view I believe that fate has made me meet Christian at the right time: the fourth video of “Gate” is entitled “DEAI” (a Japanese synonymous of “know each other”) and has been entirely shot in Modena. In this video they appear also the international model and actress Maya Murofushi and the Swiss pianist Kilian Rissone.
So, I could not tell you this story? Obviously not, since I have even participated in the backstage of the shooting!
I link you the result of this beautiful afternoon:
Christian’s story is out of the ordinary.
This is a story of of a kind and nice boy with many dreams, first of all travelling and knowing the world through his music (in part already achieved).
This is a story that has passionate and excited me at the same time. A story of doors that are opening and of opportunities that are creating.
After all, as always says Christian, with an optimism and a disarming naturalness: “just ask” and I add “just start doing.”
Christian’s story is also on Steller:
