Spring has arrived and with it the desire to revive public spaces, enjoying the open air during these beautiful sunny days.
This season (definitely my favorite to enjoy my city) brings with it a feeling of awakening, of rebirth, that you can breathe walking through the streets of Modena. Therefore, I’ve thought to tell you 3 things I love to do during springtime.
1. Getting lost in the streets of the center of Modena, going to exhibitions, relaxing in the sun
Walking along the streets of the center of Modena is one my favorite pastimes in all the seasons of the year but even more in spring.
There are several reasons, first of all I love the atmosphere that you can breathe: the desire to go outside and to enjoy what Modena offers in this period is high! 🙂
This is why I recommend you to wander into the streets of the center just snooping here and there, to enjoy the markets and the city’s initiatives.
A good idea is surely to visit some exhibitions: in this period they are many!
If you love photography, like me, the first that I recommend you the exhibitions of Fondazione Fotografia. Check here which is the actual exhibition of Fondazione Fotografia.
If you love arts, other two places to keep under control are MATA and the exhibitions of Galleria Civica.
Once you have satisfied your love for culture, a stop in “Piazza Grande” is always a must! Sit on the steps of the door, next to the lions and see the square from here… it’s beautiful!
Instead if you want to sit more comfortable and enjoy the sun, you can stop for a drink in one of the cafes in “Piazza XX Settembre” and in “Largo Sant’Eufemia”.

If you are looking then for other ideas for your visit, I suggest you to read the post: "What to see in Modena in one day" and download my free guide.

2. Relaxing in a Modena's city park
Another good idea to enjoy this season is relaxing in one of Modena parks and observing the nature reborn.
One of the parks I frequent more is the Amendola Park, which I had already spoken about in one of my first posts.
At the park, the changing of the seasons is evident: the grass become of a vivid green and the trees bloom.
It is a pleasure to sit down and look at the many colors that make this a perfect artwork!
3. Organizing a trip in Vignola to admire the blooming
Finally, if you really want to be amazed by the nature show, I suggest you to organize a visit in Vignola, a beautiful town, few kilometers far from Modena, famous for its castle and its cherries.
Here they celebrate the arrival of the spring and the cherry blossoms every year. Beside the many initiatives that are organized for the occasion, you can always make a nice visit to Vignola's Castle or to the famous staircase of Barozzi's Palace and then finish your tour with a nice walk in the countryside watching the beautiful fruit trees.
Then, if you wish to end the day diving in the most authentic Modenese atmosphere, I recommend you to visit Campiglio, a small fraction of Vignola, characteristic for its church built on the ruins of the old fortress.
Usually every year, (every Sunday, from 15.00 to 22.00), you can eat "gnocco and tigelle" prepared instantly by the group of the church volunteers.
Of course I could not resist and I stopped! 😉
So, are you ready to enjoy this beautiful season? 🙂
